CREDENTIAL ISSUED: DIPLOMA

Program Objective:

This program includes theoretical and practical applications that prepare student to perform patient care duties under the supervision of nursing and medical staff. Students will gain knowledge and skills require to be a Home Health Aide. This program prepares students to become employed as entry level Home Health Aides. Students of this program acquire the knowledge and receive the clinical skills necessary to become proficient in the care of clients in their own home setting. Graduates of this program are ready for employment as soon as they receive their diploma.

Program Description:
Students will learn the basics of the home health care industry, communication skills, understanding client’s needs and reporting, observation and recording client information. Instructor will lead classroom, lab, and clinical training depending on enrollment status. Students will learn more about the home care aide, getting a job and resume writing, special care needs of older adults and mothers and newborns. The program covers the basics of dealing with the client and the family when the client has a terminal illness, mental illness and mental health and emergencies and how to prevent infections, blood borne pathogens including bed making, elimination procedures, personal care, body mechanics and special needs and procedures.
Entrance/Admission Requirements:
The following general admission requirements must be met for an applicant to be eligible for admission to programs at the Dominium Institute:

  • The applicant must be 18 years of age. If the applicant is less than 18 years of age, a parent/guardian signature is required to enroll the student in the program
  • Applicants must present a valid ID picture
  • Applicants must present a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Applicants must submit a clear drug test
  • Provide evidence of satisfactory completion of a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Level 2 Background Check
  • Provide evidence of meeting immunization requirements by providing evidence that you are free of active tuberculosis and have immunizations for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella
  • Provide proof of current certification by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Affiliated Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card with Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
  • Interview with the Program Director
